Elimination 1!

Hello models!

Here we are at our very first elimination for this cycle! I will make it quite short. And you can all consider yourself lucky my dears! Because Sarah(Sary.babyfayce) decided to back out of the competition due to personal reasons. And I decided to NOT eliminate anyone else. I just think that you guys are such a talented group of people and I'm actually quite happy to not have to send anyone home!

Still, you probably wanna know who won this task, eh? Here comes the list of contestants in order from best to worst:

1. - liajm! I just think that out of all the sceneries yours was the one who had everything. The story was great, as well as your styling and the execution was perfect! You really deserve to be the first one. congratulations!
2. - starsyd3333
3. - misshorseygirl7
4. - juicy-much
5. - xxlovexx
6. - Sweet_gal11
7. - Lijj123
8. - Jannnnnu
9. - I-Love-Pigs
10. .Jhudora
11. - musta47 -  This was quite a weak scenery, which was disappointing, because I know you can do better! Convince me with the next task.

I just wanted to let you guys know that you were all soooo close to each other, that even if you are at the bottom of the list that doesn't mean your scenery was bad! It was just so hard to decide who gets which place. And basically you are all at the same good level right now(with little differences)! Keep it up guys!

Love, Melinda

Cycle 2:Task 1 !

Why hello and welcome to the second Cycle of Pearl.Models! It has been a long time. No actually not, but still I am REALLY excited to give the go for another amazing cycle! As you know I already announced the first six contestants. So the first thing I should do is to announce the last 6 who are going to be participating in this competition! Here are the lucky ones(in nor particular order):

7: misshorseygirl7
8: juicy-much
9: I-Love-Pigs
10: .Jhudora
11: Jannnnnu
12: Liljj123

Congratulations girls! You are now official contestants for Pearl.Models Cycle 2!
A big thank you to everyone who auditioned! It was a tough decision and I really had to think about it for such a long time, because I would have liked to give all of you the chance to show me your talent. But for now these girls [and boy] will show you what they got!

Now on to Task 1!
I have thought about something where you really have to show your creativity. It's not always about posing! Atmosphere as well as your dolls expression, the story and of course the outfit, everything is important! So for your first task, I decided to give everyone a different kind of job, which they have to portray. Here's the list:

plantation worker - Jannnnnu
artists muse - Sary.Babyfayce
roman soldier - I-Love-Pigs
hunter- starsyd3333
shaman - juicy-much
slave - xxlovexx
belly dancer - Lilijj123
pearl diver - liajm
fortune teller -  musta47
magician's assistant - .Jhudora
dompteur - Sweet_gal11
bookbinder - misshorseygirl7

Some of them are not common anymore or quite strange, but otherwise it wouldn't be much of a challenge. As I said before: It's the first task and your poses don't have to be 'in-your face-poses'. Just make sure that everything is executed very well. I want to see a great composition. However, if you are able to do complex poses and it goes well with your theme than just do it! Think out of the box and try to convey the spirit of your assigned job.
Now, you probably want to know who gets which job, eh? Well, things are going a bit different. The first 6 contestants have an edge for this part of the task! They are free to choose a job. They just have to write in the comments section which one they want and no one else can have it! When they chose I will assign the left ones to the last 6 contestants. Since Lia hasn't internet access I already assigned to her the job of the pearl diver[that's why it is roamed].

Once again here is the list of contestants who have the right to choose:

1: starsyd3333

2: xxlovexx

3:Sapphire_1000

4: musta47

5: Sary.Babyfayce

You five should do that as soon as possible! If you finished choosing your jobs I will tell you when the deadline is!

Have fun with it!

Some Rules & Guidelines:

+ The tasks will be completed as a club scenery and during the deadline.
+ If you have any questions or need an extension just ask me! I'll be happy to help you.
+ During the competition you shouldn't change major features on your doll, like the skin color, eyes or nose. You can change the lips and eyebrows as well as the hair, to create different expressions.
+ You have to write an explanation for every task in the comments section.
+ Since Stardoll is not glitch free you should make a screen print of your scenery before saving it. So that you can make a tinypic or an imgur for your scenery, if it doesn't load or if there are glitches.[if you don't know what either of that is, just ask me!]
+ Last but not least, poses are required!

DEADLINE is the 5th august of 2011!!!!!

Also, Lia already told me when she will be away for a few days. I am going to add anyone, who I'm not friends with, yet. Please tell me when you won't have internet access or just can't complete the task, so that i can take it into the organisation!

+ I don't know if you heard it, but Blair aka. itgonnarain is leaving Stardoll. She has been a fantastic judge for the past cycle. But now we need a new fresh judge who takes her seat. She is one of last cycle's contestants, is a successful writer for several blogs, has an upcoming fashion line, PLUS her own modeling club. She came in third last cycle and knows exactly how you feel. Her name is Elle and she is just fabulous! I am sooooo happy to have her as a judge- RockinEllee

Enough said, we are officially starting.... NOW!!

Saturday 23 July 2011

And the winner is...

Remember how it all started? No? A little reminder:

Well, we finally arrived at the end of the road. Two incredibly talented young girls have been in the running to find out who becomes the first ever winner of Pearl.Models. The mix of contestants this cycle has been so amazing! I didn't know how many amazing girls and boys are out there climbing there way up to the modeling elite, in Dollywood. But you guys just blew me away. I remember the first task and your sceneries stood out so much. I dare to say that you are almost complete opposites.
On the one hand we have Marte, who has shown us high fashion and drama, drama, drama[in a VERY good way] throughout this whole time.
Then we have Ioana, the quirky and more feminine one who used to put a smile on our faces when we had a look at her work.

You guys are true topmodels! Both of you have managed to wow us from week to week. Won so many tasks and always out your all into your sceneries. I more than proud of you and more than happy that I chose you out of all the girls and boys who applied. You made this experience so special and enjoyable. Thank you for that!

Marte:
You are androgynous. You are mysterious. You are such an interesting person to talk to.
I can see your love of art in everything you. Wowing us week after week, it was clear that you would make it to the very top of this competition. I always loved how you put so much of yourself into your work. Without seeing your dolls face I would have been able to tell it was you who made this scenery.Your portfolio is very cohesive and your dramatic make up was didn't hinder you from showing us a soft and romantic side of you. I didn't thought that you still have space left to develop, cause you started out so strong and won the first two tasks!
Here is some of your work:

Ioana:
My little red head. I loved your hair from the very beginning. Made me think about how you are as a person and as a model. What I saw is an adorable girl, which has so much passion for what she does. You listened to us and every time we weren't sure about a scenery you proved us better next week. Your dreamy, romantic, yet strong work helped you to fight your way to the final. Your final tasks? They were beautiful. You showed us so much of your personality and it was mirrored throughout your sceneries all this time. Honestly. I thought you were a one note. Not capable of impressing us, but girl I'm glad I was wrong!
Here is some of your work:

You both truly are two one of a kind contestants. I know, doesn't really make sense, but still! I love you and I am so happy that you two are the ones who are standing as the last, after our journey of more than half a year! Can you believe it? I can't. And I won't and I don't want to believe that everything is over by now. Just remember that both of you are amazing, lovely, just extraordinary girls who would have deserved to get the crown. But only one can and I don't have to tell you how close this was! But in the end it was clear that only you can be the winner...

Ioana!!!!

Yes. Right. YOU ARE THE WINNER OF PEARL.MODELS!!! You have created some of the most stunning sceneries during the last cycle. Have always been positive. I don't know what it is, but there's a spark in you and everything you create that just makes me love it! You truly deserve to be called ' The Pearl who shined out!

But we don't want to forget our incredible....

Marte

Kasia alias Undamyumbrellla commented on one of your sceneries saying that it is the best one she has ever seen. Do I have to say more? No. But I do. I don't want you to be sad or disappointed in you. There is nothing to be sad about. You have been an amazing contestant and even with your little English you were able to tell a whole story, that way just breath-taking. You have crated a few of my favorite sceneries ever! I hope you continue your modeling and kick some ass in other competitions. You surely have what it takes!

Thanks to everyone who was supporting our contestents, commenting their sceneires and jus stayed activ ein the club, at times I wasn't!
The next cycle will start soon. In fact, tomorrow :D. I announce the last 6 contestants and the first task! Be prepared for another amazing journey. But don't forget to congratulate our lucky winner and runner up!

I need a cup of tea now. See you soon little raccoon!

Love you all!
Melinda

Final Task!! + Next cycle!

Our two beautiful finalists. This will be the last task for this cycle. And it will be a lot you'll have to do :D.
I think I make it short, because otherwise I will get too emotional.

Your task will be divided in 3 parts.

1. Part: Once again you have to show us your commercial side and create a commercial for a new Covergirl's lip product. It can be a lipstick, lip gloss or a lip liner. Make sure that you are easy, breathy and beautiful and that you sell the product the best you can. You should make a beauty shot and add the name of your product as well as a commercial(not too long, maximum two boxes in the comments section). Please make it clear which part your commercial is and which part the description!

2. Part: Then...
Part two is connected with part three. You have to make a scenery which describes how you used to be. You can show us how you started in this competition or how you were as a person when you were a child. I want you to take this task personal and try to convey a specific emotion. It can be anything you want.

3. Part: Now...
So as you may have already guessed, the 3. part will be about how you feel now and how you see yourself. You should put in everything you learned about atmosphere and expression. You can make it an editorial or a story with a beginning and an end. Be creative and show us that you deserve to be the first winner of Pearl.Models! It's really close, guys!

If you have any questions feel free to ask me!

DEADLINE: The 4. of July 2011

If you need more time please contact me!

Good Luck and may the best one win!

____________________________________________________________________________

Now for the next cycle, there will be a twist, as I already told you! There will be 12 contestants. But some of them don't even need to apply! I will choose 6 of them before I put up the auditions! Means that if you want me to visit your suite and have a look at your sceneries, you should post your name either here or under the post I made in the club! PLUS: Three of the lucky ones will be old contestants, who had to leave too soon! If you are an old contestant(and were NOT under the final 5!!!) you might have the chance to come back for this cycle, but be fast, because I already have some people in mind!

I think that sounds quite promising, doesn't it? I can't wait to see what all the new talents come up with :). Hurry up, if you want to have the chance to become a model for the next cycle!(I'm currently working on the new prizes, which will be even better then the old ones!)

PS: If we didn't choose you to be one of the first 6 contestants, that doesn't mean that you do not still have the chance to be under the top 12! You can still apply after I posted the auditions ; ]

UPDATE: I will 'scout' for the first six models until Tuesday the 21st!

Love, Melinda!

Elimination 9!

We finally arrived. After this elimination we will have our top 2. The first top 2 of Pearl.Models ever! Marte, Elle, Ioana, I just wanted to say thanks for being such wonderful contestants. I couldn't have thought of anyone better! And though one is leaving right before the finale, you should now that I am proud of you and that you already are winners. It was so hard this week. You can't imagine. And though my heart says no, because I don't want to see anyone leaving, I had to make this decision.

The first one who made it to the finale is...

Our first Finalist!

 Marte!
Congratulation! Our first finalist!I don't have to tell you how amazing you were throughout the whole competition, but this week was something special! Our lovely guest judge Mel said that she loved your scenery and you are her favorite. I think that she would love to see you auditioning for MelsModels next cycle. And I don't know if you saw it, but Kasia[Undamyumbrellla] commented on your scenery and said that it is the best one she has ever seen. And she has seen a lot! Marte, you can be more than proud of you! I love how every single scenery has this little extra something that is so high fashion and so you. Still you showed us that you can be versatile and commercial. You won the job at Kharma and I am sure you will appear in magazines and on the runway as well.

Now on to our bottom two.
You were by far two of my favorite contestants throughout the entire cycle. This is the toughest decision in Pearl.Models short history and I have to say that I had to think about it quite a long time. And in the end I listened to what the judges said and I just had to agree with them. I will evaluate your whole body of work, not only the last task, but everything you've done!

Elle:

When she first auditioned
You are the one who has grown by far the most during this competition. I remember your first scenery, when you were the genie. It was cute, yea, but nothing special. I didn't know if you really had the potential in you. Then there was the task about the seven deadly sins and that was the moment I though: Finally! She showed us her true talent. From then on you continued to wow us with your sceneries and we were really impressed. But though you did a really nice job this week, the judges aren't sure if the risk you took by not incorporating too much from the actual painting payed off. Some things were quite confusing, other stunning. All in all the opinions were mixed. Your polaroid was nice and probably the best out of the bunch. That shows that you can continue on as a model even in magazines and on the runway, but are you ready to rock the final?

 Ioana:

When she first auditioned
When I saw you I immediately fell in love with your red hair. It's amazing and it's what makes you soo special! You stood out from week to week and were on the top right from the beginning and though you started really good you were able to grow by listening to what we said. You had one of my favorite sceneries in this competition the one were you had to portray a movie genre. I loved it. The one thing I am asking myself is if you are able to create something we haven't seen before and really wow us. I know that you have it in you, but can you show it? Your polaroid was the weakest, which was really said, because you were the only one who basically had no make up and your doll was still stunning! The outfit was the thing that put you at the bottom. But on the other hand, you were the one who did the best job when it came to recreating the photo in an editorial way and managed to keep the model in you.

So who stays and becomes a finalist of the first cycle of Pearl.Models?...

Our 2. Finalist!

Congratulations Ioana, you are the second finalist of Pearl.Models! After the last 4 months of working together you and Elle were basically on the same level and you both had your ups and downs. The reason why you are a finalist is that you were just better this week. You proved to us that you deserve it in the last moment. I can't wait to see your final entries :)

Elle! I don't even want to write it, but you are eliminated. You stunned me with your sceneries and you were so ambitious. You somehow remided me of myself. I actually don't have the words to describe what I feel right now. I just want you to move on and make me regret that I eliminated you! I have never seen someone with so much potential and you still have a long way to go. You rock girl!

Soooo, this has been a tough week, but the following ones will be even tougher, yet fun. I can't wait to post the next task and all your amazing sceneries. PLUS: I will post auditions for cycle two VERY soon, so stay tuned!

Love, Melinda

Task 9!

Final 3!

Girls, I am sooo proud of you! From here on it's anyone's game, so give it your best with the next task!
For this task we will have a special guest judge... It will blow you away, trust me! But first I will announce the task ;).
So this week will be again a two part task. The first task is the main task and will count more than the second part. For the first task you have to create a scenery inspired by a famous painting. The paintings I have assigned to you have poses which you can't really translate into Stardoll-scenery poses. Just try to get into the vibe of the painting and make a high fashion editorial out of it! It's very common that you see a fairytale or a historical event which worked as an inspiration for fashion editorials. It can be simple or very extravagant, but make sure that your story fits the inspiration. Therefore may do some research on your assignment or the artist who painted it, or even the time in which it was made. Everything can help!

So here they are:

Ioana
'Birth of Venus' by Sandro Botticelli

Elle
'The girl with the pearl earring' by Jan Vermeer

Marte
'Whistler's mother' by James Abbott McNeill Whistler

If you have any questions or need help feel free to ask me! I would be more than happy to help you!

Now for the second part of the task. I got the inspiration from a modeling club I am currently in. It is also part of the current task and I just loved the idea! So I thought: why not do it for Pearl.Models, too? And I thought that it would be more than perfect to have the person as a guest judge, who owns the club. Now you want to know who this person is, huh? But first comes the second part:

You all have the photo function at your page, which you have to use to take polaroids of your medoll! We want to see if you are a natural beauty, so minimise your make up! The outfit shouldn't be too crazy. You have to imagine that you go to a virtual 'Go-See'(I guess you all know the term?!). You want to show your personality through your look and catch the clients attention without being over the top. After you took the photo paste the link of your photo along with your scenery description. Even in Dollywood it is important to make a good first impression. Possible clients may visit your page and think, wow I want this girl to be in my magazine. There are a lot of magazines and agencies who choose their models by surfing around and visiting tons of people. You should be always prepared ;).

DEADLINE: The 2. June 2011

I think it will be enough time. And don't forget: This is the LAST task before the finale! I'm really proud of all of you :*

Good Luck!

Love, Melinda

Wait... did I forget something? Ahh, yes! I forgot to tell you who will be the guest judge this week. It's Mel! Better known as 'bluegreen86' . One of Stardoll's super models, like the Naomie Campell of the 90's. I hope you like this comparison Mel :P. She owns THE modeling club called MelsModels. And who knows, maybe you will be in the next cycle?

Thursday 12 May 2011

Elimination 8!

I am really really sorry for the long delay, but school was quite stressing and so on. But now we are back on track!

Sooo I hope you remember the last task.. No?! Well the most important thing about it is probably the prize! The winner will be walking on the runway of Linus Leonardssons(Dog_boy96) upcoming collection of Kharma. So without further delay I will announce which lucky girl will get the real modeling gig!

The winner for this task is...

Marte!
For me it was a tie between You Marte and Elle, but at the end of the day Linus had the final decision in his hands and he wanted you. So congrats, you can be very proud of yourself. Both your sceneries where stunning. What you can work on: on the shape of your body. I also think that you could have used real trousers our jeans for the guy to wear. And the motorbike wasn't placed correctly. It should have been much lower, because if the ground was so high we would see more of the guys legs. But still amazing job!

Elle:Your poses were full of creativity and innovation! I loved it. But the small mistakes(you know what I mean) can really be distracting and destroy the overall look, think about the whole scene, how styling and background harmonize. Also: Don't forget the face!

Bottom Two:

Ioana: I don't know what happened this week, but your scenery really lacked at all points. Especially the Edie Sedgewick one. Edie is one of my idols and I was expecting much after I read the explanation but the pose, clothing and whole background weren't convincing, you fall from the top to the bottom.

Isabelle: Your sceneries this week were good. Just good, nothing else. I was expecting a bit more since your sceneries weren't very consistent. You won one task, but everyone else won even more tasks!

So who stays?

Ioana. You are the one who stays! I hope that you bring your A game next week and impress us again.
I am sorry Isabelle, but you have to go. I felt like you weren't a hundred percent comitted to this competition, but you have to give your all every single time. I know you have it in yo, that's why you made it this far, but unfortunately you didn't manage to show us the true model in you. Don't stop modeling, but just choose one competition and bring your A game every singy task :).

So final 3! You know what that means?! Only one task left before the finale. You have to show us what you've got because the next task will be different from everything we did before.
And a huge thank you to Linus! You were a wonderful guestjudge and I can't wait to see Marte on the runway :).

Love, Melinda.

Saturday 16 April 2011

Elimination 7 and Task 8!

....

This has been a really really sad week. There were only 4 girls who completed the task. Meaning that Denise (ntenia) and Paulina (Pauo-Watson) are automatically eliminated. Paulina personally told me that she has to leave the competition because of  personal issues, but Denise? I gave you an extension! That's why, again(!!!!!!!) it took so long to announce the winner and the one(s) who get eliminated. It's not the first time I give an extension but I hope it will be the last time for this cycle because everything just takes soo long and I know how it feels to wait so long, since I am in modeling comps myself.
So, moving on to you personal evaluation, in order from best to worst:

At first something in general: Rounding off the edges of your joints is something you can all work on. It can take away the realism and that's not what we want as Stardoll.model! :). Also: It was sooooo hard for us to decide who gets which place because we only have the crème de la crème in this competition!

Elle: Yet again you won a task! Congrats to you my dear. You really captured the word 'action' in your scenery and it looked like you were actually moving. You are impressing us from week to week! (Loved the head tilt ;P)

Marte: Such a pity that Stardoll didn't let you put more into your scenery! We can just imagine how amazing it could have been! Pose and styling as always superb! I actually didn't thought that you can grow as much as the others because you started on top, but the body tilt, oh my! That was beautiful.

Ioana: This was just as good as the others. The styling, the curtains, your expression, you think about every little detail! It all has a story and you put the pieces together in an amazing way! This week, I have to admit that it was just my taste which put you at the 3rd place. But I want you to stay true to yourself, because that was just a minor detail!

Isabelle. I loved your inspiration and the simple background was by far my favorite, the hair and make up as well! I know your problems with putting the clothes on your doll. A tip: Place the clothes before hiding the body parts, that makes it so much more easy, trust me! Also, your joints tend to look flat and unrealistic, place the tiles more carefully and you will grow tremendously!

So, since no one is going home this week, I am going to announce the next task right now :). Girls, this is going to show us who has what it takes to win this cycle. After this task there is only one more, before the final two are competing against each other! A real modeling job is waiting for you! You will be in Choicemagazine along with this cycle's winner of MelsModels! Isn't this amazing? I know... BUT not only the winner should get the chance to work as a real model in the Stardoll-modeling industry! So talking about modeling modeling and modeling I have a little surprise for you. And guess what?! It will be about modeling! The winner of this weeks task will get the opportunity to rock the runway of Linus Leonardsson's (Dog_boy96) next Kharma collection, which will be seen at next years StardollFashionWeek! Is this good or what?(To Marte: I know that you are in the RTW collection. If you win you will also be walking in the couture collection ;] )

So, to make it a bit tougher this week, you will have to do a two part task!

First Part: Hello Mister!

You have to do a scenery with another model. But not just any model! It has to be a male model! E. g. You could use Linus himself, if you find him ;). We want you to interact with the other model. But interacting doesn't mean touching. There should be a connection we need to feel while looking at your scenery. I know that some of you already have experienced to do that kind of scenery, that's why the others have to bring their A level this time! Make it look like an editorial.

Second Part: Around The World.

For this part I was inspired by Marion Cotillards Dior handbag ad. There were 4 different cities she portrayed and you are also going to portray 4 different cities. It doesn't have to be a bag-ad or any kind of ad, because it's very hard to portray a city. So this time it would be good, to think about a story behind your scenery. Be creative and innovative! You don't have to show the city, but show it's vibe or typical things through styling and accessories.

Here are the pics of the Dior ad:

 London:

New York:

Paris:

Shanghai:

Just to get a few ideas :). Of course it isn't important in which order you do the task and there will be only one who has to leave the competition!

Your assignments:
Ioana: Moscow
Elle: Paris
Marte: Milano
Isabelle: Shanghai

If you have any question about the task, please ask me! Of course I will give you more time for this task.

DEADLINE: Saturday April 30th 2011

Good luck and have fun! :)

Task 7!

Bonjour :)

Only five girls are remaining in the hope of becoming Pearl.Models next topmodel. I will only call... Oh, I think that comes later :).
Well for this week we have ,again, something very exciting. Literally. One thing we always try to achieve, as a Stardoll-model, is to bring motion to a scenery. It can be very difficult and look kinda weird, if you don't know how to make it work. But some of you have already proofed, that they are able to bring life into the virtual world. Now it is time to see if all of you can do so. For your task you have to create a scenery in motion. You can be flying, falling, tripping, dancing, jumping, doing sports, fighting, short: everything you want ;D. Make sure that your expression fits your pose and that you make it interesting. You can be very creative, but we want to see ACTION! I don't even dare to say it, but horse hair might be good to use at this point. But there are a few hairstyles that you can also use for this task(Of course you can use which one you like, just ask yourself if it is appropriate for your pose). As always, you can ask me whaterver you want, if something is unclear.

I have some pictures for you, how a action/motion shot can look like. Some of them are real photos, some of them are my own work :) :

DEADLINE: TUESDAY APRIL 11th 2011

Good luck to everyone. I am really excited to see the results :).

Love, Melinda

Saturday 2 April 2011

Elimination 6 !

This weeks task was very interesting. It showed that you are almost all on the same level, but it also showed that some of you might have the chance to win this.
I will make it shorter this time :).

Your personal evaluation in order from best to worst:

Elle: You had 'sloth' and that was one of the harder ones. You managed to come up with an interesting story, beautiful styling and pose. There were a few things you can improve on, but I think you really deserve to be the first, because you have improved the most throughout the competition!

Ioana: You always come up with those poses I have never seen and that's something very good. I love your creativity and you always try something new. I hope you can keep your level, the next task will show that. :)

Marte: You have always delivered good sceneries during this competition. I really appreciate that you changed your whole look. I was soo happy to see that! I love the motion you created, but I wouldn't have realized that I have to look at it from the side, myself. So it  was very confusing until you explained it . Though it was really amazing after that :P. Just make sure that it is already amazing without the explanation and the explanation just underlines the amazing-ness.

Paulina: Vanity was perfectly right for you :). But there are still some things we already told you, like the fact, that your scenery are a little dull. I know that minimalism is kinda your signature, but you sometimes have to translate that into something with a little more items ;D. Work on that, because the atmosphere really makes a scenery stand out!

Isabelle: You had by far the hardest and therefore your idea was really great. I feel like your limit of items is even smaller than mine, which is a pity. Your outfit wasn't good and that's not the first time. I know that you can do better. Show some curves when you use items to dress your doll! But keep your edginess!

Bottom 2:

Denise: You showed us quite a complex pose and I appreciate your ambition, but it wasn't well executed. You can place the tiles better and more carefully, I know that. I feel like you didn't grow much during the last tasks and that's disappointing. You are such a talented girl, but I start to ask myself if you are able to grow, or if you reached your limit.

Josie: I don't know what it was this week, but it was just a mess. Nothing was special nor very executed. And I am so sad and shocked to see that. You were almost eliminated last week, you may don't know it but it was hard for me to send Stefan home. I thought that you might have the chance to impress us more. You had problems during the last weeks and I  can understand that. So i hope you don't take it personal! I just think that you need a little more time to find yourself and you will make it big!

But for now I have to say that Josie, you are eliminated.

It gets tougher and tougher guys..

Au revoir Melinda

Task 6!

So hello girls!

We are down to the final 7! Ohhh my gosh! Isn't it amazing? You left half of the contestants behind you and that is something you can really be proud of! Moving on to the task. I thought about even before creating the club, because I always wanted to do it myself. So here you have the chance to do a task I still wait to do :). Your task is it to create a scenery inspired by the 7 deadly sins. I want you to be really creative and show us your very own take on your individual sin. Of course the judges and I always love to see when the girl becomes the sin herself, so keep that option in mind ;). I have found a picture that I thought would be great to show you, because it shows the different side of every sin. There are some that are easier and some that are harder, but I want you to take that as a challenge and maybe even research it, because there are many interesting things in the internet and books. I also think that your facial expression is soo important, so play with features. Just don't change your eyes or nose. But lips, Eye brows and hair. You can go crazy with the make up as long as it fits the theme and is high fashion. Just go for it! Of course you can ask me questions if something sin't clear.
Also there is a surprise for you guys. I decided that you should get a reward for your hard work. The winner of this task will get immunity for the next task! I hope that gives you enough enthusiasm to do your best

Here is the picture I was talking about[click on it to enlarge]:

You don't have to copy the picture or the way your sin is embodied there. It's just to help you if you have no clue.

Another picture from America's Next Top Model cycle 4. [I chose my name to be .naima, because of the beautiful girl in green, portraying envy, who won this cycle ;)]. The sins in order: Vanity, Envy, Lust, Wrath, Gluttony, Avarice, Sloth.

Now on to who gets which sin:

Isabelle: Gluttony(it is probably the hardest, but after you won the last task I want to see if you can continue to impress us)
Marte: Lust (remember that I said you can show us a different side? I always see you as a very androgynous girl, which is great! But now I want to see something really feminine)
Denise: Wrath
Elle: Sloth (Might be tough but I just have a feeling that you can pull that off!)
Ioana: Avarice
Paulina: Vanity
Josie: Envy

In the last post I forgot to say thanks to Gabby, our guest judge for the last task. You did an amazing job! And I think you she gave you very constructive critique and hopefully helped you a lot!

DEADLINE: 27th March 2011

Good luck to you!

Elimination 5!

 Well hello my little Models,

I have told you that it will be getting tougher and tougher from time to time and that you have to bring your all to the competition to make it here! So I expected you to give your best and blow us away with this task. Some of you showed us how much they have improved and some... well they didn't do as good as they can. I have to say that I am a bit disappointed to say what I have to say. You all knew that this is going to be a double elimination, so I can't understand why you Fern didn't do the task. I mean on the one hand it is good for the other seven contestant, because only one more has to go! But on the other hand I feel said to see a girl go home, who has soooo much potential. And the fact that you didn't even ask me if you could have an extension makes it worse. But I wasn't willing to wait until everyone has done the task. I normally do that, if someone has a reason to not to the task. Now I think this competition needs to get forward and that is why you Fern are eliminated!

But wait we are not done, yet! Now it is time for the personal evaluation. In order from best to worst:

Isabelle: Finally! She can deliver more than one good scenery! :D I am so happy to see that from you and I can tell that you feel much more confident when doing a beauty shot. Maybe you should consider to do that whenever it fits the task?! I don't know, just don't lose the spark that you have right now, because it's wonderful!

Marte: You are never a disappointment, But please don't tell us about the negatives! I have recently done a task and thought: Oh my Gosh, why didn't I see that the arm is sooo big. I didn't say anything about the arm and it turned out that no one would even noticed it. Styling was great! And so was the make up. Maybe show us a totally different side of you next time? I am sure you will have the opportunity to do so ;].

Denise: Denise, Denise, Denise. You always give me such a hard time. I can see so much talent and potential and think, yes this girl has the little extra something but your tasks don't really show what the actual assignment was. I know you can do even better and that you will be on top of the list, if you just try to find a concept that conveys the meaning of the task I give you! You would be extraordinary. I think the next task will give you the chance to do so ;).

Elle: The thing about you is that I see you growing from week to week. You are climbing your way up to the top! And that's how real models do it ;]. We already told you where you can improve, but I see that you are listining to us(the smile on your dolls face was so refreshing!). Keep it up girl, because I see you as one of our strongest posers!

Ioana: It was a solid task. The reason why you aren't at the top of the bunch, is because you didn't put the main focus on you. If you place something that big near your face you should make sure that it underlines the intensity of the feeling you are trying to convey! Also, your expression was a bit 'Duh'. Meaning that there was no emotion. Just different eyebrows and maybe another mouth shape can do soo much! This will be important for the next task, so try to remember it!

Paulina: This week was really interesting. I was excited to see what you will come up with and I have to say you look girly and spring-ish. I think that this little 'ummph' is missing(maybe in the background). But it's always good to see yourself as the client, that helps you embody the product. You definetely showed versatility this week, again and I am impressed to see so many different sides of you. Always keep the edginess(which you did with the eyebrows... just saying :P!).

Bottom two:

Josie: I have never seen a pose like this in Dollywood before, though it I have seen it a hundred times before in real life. It was just great! And your expression, so high fashion. But still commercial. Your color scheme wasn't that convincing, there was nor harmony and think about everything before doing a scenery, like the hairstyle! It is part of your craftsmanship to know those things. You really need to work on the execution, you can use a lot more tiles to round up the joints, I think that's what you really need to work on, to bring it to the next level.

Stefan: I really didn't expect that. I knew that you had problems with the task, so I let you re-do it, but this? Your first try was far better, considering what the assignment was. I just felt like you tried too hard this time. You should just go with the flow. I sometimes have an idea stuck in my mind and I think: Ahh that will be great! And then it doesn't turn out that good, so what do I do? I start all over again. Your not at the bottom because it was weak, it just wasn't what we wanted to see. It is up and down with you. Sometimes you are brilliant and then you are so-so. I feel like you want this so much, but don't lose yourself!

So who is 'going home'? It's Stefan. I just feel that there is something missing. This little extra something, you have it but you lose it in your sceneries. I know that you can do even better and I want to make clear that it wasn't bad! Please keep on modeling and audition for the next cycle! It's just about practising.
There are a lot of modeling competitions starting right now. SNTM.XX cycle 7, Gracious.Models and FlawlessModels.
I want you to look at these clubs and apply, because you can learn so much and when you will come back (and I really hope you do next cycle!) you will kick some ass! Stay fierce ;-*

As I told you in your personal evaluation. Some of you impressed us and some just strayed away a bit from the task. I need you to bring your all for the next task. Because this is going to be very tough and we will see who has the potential to make it to the top and who doesn't.
Gosh I can sound a bit picky and mean sometimes :D. I hope you don't think I'm a bitch. I just know that a few can do so much better! Take the criticism and learn from it!

Love you guys!
Hasta luega, Melinda

Task 5 !

Wow Models!

This is already the 5. task and we are on our way to find the first winner of Pearl.Models ever. I know there are still a lot of tasks ahead of us, but I often get sentimental. Anyways, the challenges that will come are going to be bigger and better! I feel like we need to heat the competition a bit up. Therefore I have to tell you something. And let me guess..mhh, you will not be very happy! By the end of this task there will be 7 models. But currently we have 9. So, this time we have a double elimination! That means that you have to give even more than the last tasks. The chance of leaving is very high, so being in the bottom this time will probably end very sad.

It's spring!

For the task. We will give you a bit more freedom again. But there is one little thing that is new. You have to do a beauty shot. That means we will see your doll from chest upwards. Once again we want to see your commercial side, but it can be a little edgy. I hope that you can use the things you learned from the perfume challenge and show us how much you have grown. It will be a make up commercial. It's theme is spring. So you can be very colourful, if you want to. Don't forget: Make sure that the viewer should really want the make up you are wearing. No script or name necessary. Just one little tip: You may put the focus on one part of your face, like the lips or the eyes, don't overdo it. And please don't use horse hair if it doesn't look real. It will be a huge disadvantage. Trust me!

The guest judge for this weeks task will be gabby1822. She is a model herself and in the current cycle of MelsModels. She is also a judge for DistinctModels, so you can be sure that she knows what modeling is about!

If you are a non superstar and don't know how to do it or don't really know what to do in general, you can come to me and ask your questions.

DEADLINE: 14th March 2011!

Elimination 4!

So it's this time of the week where we unfortunately have to send someone home. I know it's a bit late, but some girls needed an extension so I gave them a few additional days to complete the task. I was really excited to see what you all will come up with and I have to say that there are already some contestants that I can clearly see at the top and others who might need to work harder to make it far in this competition. The competition is tough girls and boy[s] so you need to step up your game every week! Moving on to the evaluation:

In order from bets to worst:
iovanca. Yet again you proved that you deserve to stay in this competition. Your story was so lovely and I didn't even need to read your description, because I knew what it was about by looking at your scenery for just a second. You truly captured this little extra something that we want to see form you. So congratulations, you are the second one in this cycle who had best scenery in a row. Keep up that amazing work!

lauren-d: You know how to make a scenery come to life. And that's exactly what I love about you. Your task was so well though, though I wouldn't have thought of something like that myself. But I am glad that you showed us your creativity once again! I am really looking forward to seeing what you will do next.

Sweet_gal11: Your task just screamed Sci-Fi. I knew what it was right away! Looking at what you have done for this week and comparing it to last week I see the Stefan I want to see every time, because I know what you are capable of. The pose was stunning and very realistic. The styling amazing as always. I am glad that you are back at your top!

RockinEllee: Motion. That is what you brought to your task this week and we all know how hard it is ti incorporate that into our scenery, so kudos for that! But I know that you can do better on the styling ;] . I see that you worked on your expression and your posing skills are growing, which is very important! Just keep getting better as you do every time!

Emo.Punk.Emo: After last weeks task I was quite confused, because I know that you are a really talented scenery maker, but it seemed like you weren't really concentrated while doing it. This time I clearly see that you put effort in your work and you just need a little improvement here and there. I hope you won't disappoint us again.
ntenia: It was so hard for me to give you this place. Your interpretation was beautiful(in a very high fashion way), but it wasn't exactly what we were looking for by giving you this task. I said it before but I will say it again: Your work is always memorable and that's what a model needs to bring to the competition. it's never boring to see your sceneries and you are different. In a very good way. If you have questions, just ask it might help you to understand the task better.

Foxy_Roxie: This task was really hard for you, I know that. In the end it was pretty solid but it didn't really scream horror. I want you to step out of your comfort zone, because I kinda feel like I see the same from you almost every week. It's stunning but from time to time it gets boring. You need to show us something new!

Bottom three:

Pauo-Watson: I don't know what it was this week, but you lost something. The little thing that only Paulina can bring to the competition. I feel like you focused too much on doing a great pose and the result was just so-so. Sometimes you need to start all over again, even if you are almost finished, just to make sure that you really gave your best. I haven't seen you in this scenery but I hope I will, next time!

JosieMae8445: The thing is: I don't see any improvement! You had this one scenery which was beautiful and I thought that you might show us more of that, but unfortunately you didn't. You understand the task and give us what is expected, but nothing more. We need to see this little spark in your sceneries, that makes them special or otherwise you will leave us soon. I don't want that to happen!

starsyd3333: You didn't do the task. You ask me for an extension and I gave it you. More days than you wanted, I know you were sick and your scenery for task 3 was amazing. But we can't keep you in this competition if you don't get the tasks in on time. I am sorry Sydney, that means you are eliminated. I hope you will audition for the next cycle, because you have the potential to win a competition. But till then: practise, practise, practise...

Task 5 will be posted in the next few days!
Love you guys!

Salut, Melinda

Task 4!

Well hello my little Pearls!

It's time to announce task 4. And I have to say that I really love this task. But I am honest with you guys, it wasn't my idea. I saw it in another club called DistinctModels owned by alice2078. I think auditions for the next cycle will start soon.
So you are probably asking yourself what your task is, right? Well, your task is it to create a scenery based on a genre of movie. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. I want you to know that you always can ask your questions if you don't have a clue what to do or if you have a specific ide but you are not sure if you are allowed to incorporate it into your scenery. Be creative with this one, You can tell your own story and make it kind of your movie if you want to. Show us a scene or anything you want, as long as it has something to do with your genre. I am really looking forward to seeing what you will do! I know that you will impress the judges and me.

Here are the different genres I have assigned to you:

iovanca: Romance
Emo.Punk.Emo: Drama
lauren-d: Action
JosieMae8445: Dancing Movie
Pauo-Watson: Thriller
Sweet_gal11: Science-Fiction
RockinWllee: Adventure
ntenia: Crime
Foxy_Roxie: Horror

(Again: If you don't know what to do, we can talk about that and you may get another genre BUT only in case of need ;P, so try your best!)

Deadline: 28th February 2011!

Good luck to all of you!

Love, Melinda

Elimination 3!

Hello models!

I have to say that I was really impressed with what you did this week! I didn't think that the level would be rising so fast, but I am happy, that I found such a talented group. So I decided to do it a little bit different today, by telling you who is eliminated before I will judge you. It is a little bit difficult this time, because two didn't do the task! Lady_Ieva and starsyd3333. Normally both of you would be out, BUT: I will give you Sydney a second chance, because you haven't been online the whole week and I you probably have some reasons to not be on Stardoll. If you manage to do the task during the next week you will get the chance to still be a contestant. Ieva, i sent you a reminder and you didn't do the task, even though you have been online. That is unacceptable! You are eliminated!

Now for the lucky ones who don't have to be afraid of leaving! The list from best to worst:

iovanca: WOW. You really stepped your game up this week and I am so glad you did! The perfume ad you did was just stunning and the pose was again really realistic and overall just stunning! All the judges were impressed.

Pauo-Watson: Paulina, your ad was a new take on something that have been done several times before. But you made it yours and gave it something modern. It was a bit white, though. Still I loved that you incorporated a bit of color, because I know you as someone who loves black and white. I said it before, I see that you are growing from week to week. Keep your amazing work up!

lauren-d: You managed to do a great scenery, yet again. This time there were just a few things that were a bit confusing and not too well executed. But that is me being very very picky. Your ad was a real ad(you created a whole scene) and that's what I liked about it. Work on the small things and I know you will impress us again!

ntenia: This was drop dead gorgeous! You used the horse hair very well and the styling and setting was breathtaking. I was charmed by your scenery from the first second. The reason why you didn't win this task, was because you didn't make it your fragrance. You used Chanel as your brand and the logo, as well as the bottle weren't as stunning as your medoll. But the scenery itself was just divine!

RockinEllee: Your task was solid and fit the theme perfectly. I liked that you were so feminine and girly but not cheesy, which is hard to manage! Try to work on your expression, though. An ad is all about the expression of the model and you weren't very convincing. Still, I wanted to have that fragrance and that was a huge part of the task- making the viewer want to buy it.

Sweet_gal11: The concept you came up with was very modern and just great! And you always have such an amazing styling. But the pose wasn't that convincing and didn't really make sense to me. The background was spacey and fit the theme, but you didn't make me want that perfume. Try to work on your posing and how to make it look realistic.

Foxy_Roxie: Your scenery was inspired by one of  Linnea's sceneries and I could clearly see that by looking at it. But Linnea's scenery was so well-matched and one of the best underwater scenery I have ever seen, that it was tough to not be influenced by that. The dress was great, the hair not so much! I just didn't see that as an ad for a perfume, because I almost didn't notice the bottle. The whole concept was great, though. But it is important, to show the product you are selling as good as possible!

JosieMae8445: So, you had a few problems in real live. And I can totally understand that. But if you wouldn't have said that you  would have been at the bottom of the list! the pose looked a bit random and all the different colors were just confusing. It looked as if you had soo many ideas, but didn't know how to incorporate them in one scenery. Try to put your focus on 1 idea next time.

Emo.Punk.Emo: I felt like you were in a hurry when I looked at your task. The hair was a little bit sloppy and so was the outfit. The pose was great! But all the flaws like he missing background an the not convincing styling over shined the good things. I do appreciate that you did such a big bottle, because I expected someone to do that, so thumbs up for that. Just try to take your time for the next task and I am sure you will blow as away.

Also a HUGE THANK YOU to Linnea, our guest judge this week! We were honoured to have you with us and your tips were very helpful!

Task 4 will be posted soon ;]!
And I just wanted to tell you that you make me really proud! You are such a great great group of contestants and I couldn't wish of any something else. This first Cycle would be nothing without you, so thanks a lot for being a part of it!

Love, Melinda

Task 3!

Hello Models!

It's time for the next task and I hope you like it as much as I do. But first things first! I am sorry for the delay, we all have been busy these days me as well as some of the other judges. Now were back on track!

This time, we ant to see a more commercial side of you. After the last task was all about high fashion! So your task is it to create a Perfume Ad! You don't need to write a script, but if you have an idea for it or a possible name, tell us! Again you have pretty much freedom. Just make sure, that you sell the product in a way we would like to buy it! You can make this a  beauty shot, which means, that your medoll is shown form the chest upwards. I have posted some tips for the use of horse hair and I will post more and more tips, to help you with your work. Just a few things: If you are using horse hair (which I think is always very ambitious), make sure that it looks realistic! Even I have still problems with using it in an appropriate way, sometimes! And if you do a beauty shoot, it is soo important to have the right expression on your face. It should fit the theme! JUST A LITTLE TIP: I am not a huge fan of speech bubbles in sceneries, so if you have an idea for the name and you want to include the name into your scenery, be creative but don't go with the obvious! You can always write it in your explanation. BUT AS I SAID, you don't have to find a name ;D !

Also: We have an amazing guest judge for this week... it's Linnea a.k.a. .pease. ! She is a high fashion supermodel here on Stardoll and I adore her sceneries (Check out the interview I did with her here on the blog). She truly knows what it takes to be a model and I hope you are as lucky as me that we have her as  guest judge this week!

DEADLINE : 16 February 2011 ... I hope you spent Valentines day with your beloved :].

Tips: How to use horse hair!

A lot of the Pearl.Models contestants are using horse hair to make their sceneries look more realistic. But you have to know how to pull it off, otherwise it will look sloppy and unrealistic.
In this 'tutorial' I will show you how you can use it to your advantage.

Here we have beauty shoot. Looks nice, doesn't it? But there are a few things we can change to make it fabulous!
At first, there is the elbow. I just used one tile there. but that isn't enough. It looks still way too sharp!

So I used about 5 other tiles to make it rounder and more realistic!:

Now for the horsehair. The easiest way to use it is a ponytale. I really like using it that way, because you are able to create a whole new hairstyle! But ut also adds a lot of motion. As you can see, it looks as if wind is blowing from the right to the left! What supports this effect is my expression. I just changed my mouth and immediately looks as if my doll is moving.

One 'piece' of horse would be already enough, but again, to make it look real I am going to use two more. NOTE: Don't think that it will look better the more pieces you use! Sometimes less is more.
The problem now, is that you can see the edges of the horsehair, which takes away the realness:

But lucky me and lucky you, we have those wonderful tools, which help us letting the pieces fade into the background:

Et voilá! We have a wonderful beauty-motion shoot:

Again a beauty shoot. But this time without a pose. Looks already nice:

But it can look like this:

This is how it looks with my medoll in the background. I hope you get the idea, because I didn't want to explain every single step :P:

The right hair is just one of a few aspects a good scenery should have. There is also the expression. And as you can see above, just a few changes (eyebrows or lips or both) can help you to create real emotion. I want you to think about all these things before doing a scenery the next time, because it can bring you to the next level!
More tutorial are going to come! I hope it helps!
